Work Group

The work group includes the board of the Swedish String Teachers' Association plus two additional members. All in all the group consists of ten persons:

  • Gunnar Crantz, Falun
  • Päivikki Wirkkala-Malmqvist, Norrköping
  • Anna Lindal, Stockholm
  • Johan Falk, Stockholm
  • Ingemar Edström, Piteå
  • Leif Elving, Falun
  • Petra Hellqvist, Göteborg
  • Catharina Grunér Kronqvist, Värmdö
  • Kjell-Åke Hamrén, Stockholm
  • Per Helders, Stockholm

The make-up of this work group may vary over time as a result of board members being exchanged. The group will meet on a regular basis, and ESTA-members, as well as other string teachers, are welcome to present their views or proposals to the group. If you would like to get in touch with us, please send a mail to estanews@esta.se.

The picture here is Ernst Josephson's painting Näcken, which hangs in the Nationalmuseum. Josephson painted this figure in several versions; there is one in the Waldemarsudde Gallery and another in Gothenburg. We have chosen Näcken as a logo for the Falun conference for a number of reasons: Firstly, Näcken belongs to the Nordic culture and his being a violin player certainly fits in well with ESTA. Secondly he is a creature in Swedish folklore with links to traditional music in Sweden. Finally, Näcken as a symbol is very much in line with the theme of the Falun conference.
