The make-up of this work group may vary over time as a result of board members being exchanged. The group will meet on a regular basis, and ESTA-members, as well as other string teachers, are welcome to present their views or proposals to the group. The picture here is Ernst Josephson's painting Näcken, which hangs in the Nationalmuseum. Josephson painted this figure in several versions; there is one in the Waldemarsudde Gallery and another in Gothenburg. We have chosen Näcken as a logo for the Falun conference for a number of reasons: Firstly, Näcken belongs to the Nordic culture and his being a violin player certainly fits in well with ESTA. Secondly he is a creature in Swedish folklore with links to traditional music in Sweden. Finally, Näcken as a symbol is very much in line with the theme of the Falun conference.
